Tina Heeley Counsellor

Hello!

My name is Tina (BA, PG Dip, MBACP), and I am a registered Integrative Counsellor with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I'm looking forward to helping you in your journey of healing and growth.

As an Integrative counsellor, I believe each person is unique and requires a tailored approach that suits their needs and goals. I am trained in and draw from various theoretical models, such as humanistic, cognitive-behavioural (CBT), and psychodynamic, to provide you with holistic and compassionate therapy.

I aim to establish a therapeutic relationship with you based on safety, trust, and hope. In this relationship, you will be able to explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours without judgement, and discover new ways of coping and living more authentically.

I also offer embodied somatic approaches and creative practices in the work, believing that our bodies can reveal valuable insights into our psyche. These methods can help you access and express your emotions, sensations, and memories in ways that talking therapy may not always capture.

My Story

Before embarking on my journey as a counsellor, I attained a BA Hons in Performance/Dance Studies, which propelled me into the dynamic realms of dance and the arts. My passion for the arts led me to explore the intersection of arts and healthcare, where I discovered the power of creative expression to heal and transform lives. I have designed and delivered innovative arts in health programmes for various organisations, from the NHS to the third sector, reaching diverse audiences and communities. I continue integrating my artistic skills and knowledge into my therapeutic work, creating a holistic and personalised approach for each client when requested.

I have also been involved in a leading mental health charity arts department, where I coordinated a team of creative therapists/artists in collaboration with health experts to produce impactful outcomes for people needing mental health support. Through this experience, I realised the infinite potential of using different modalities to facilitate healing and growth. Simultaneously, I delved into the depths of my own human experience, thirsting for connectedness and new learning. This quest brought me towards counselling, embarking on understanding the deeper layers of human existence and healing by training as an Integrative therapist.

Now, I run my own private and community practices, contribute to a counselling agency, and support the NHS by offering counselling services in a hospital setting.

Accepting you as you are...

I aim to provide inclusive, neurodiversity-affirming, disability-affirming, culturally competent, and culturally responsive care and services for people of all sexual orientations and gender identities.

"Tina is a compassionate and intuitive counsellor who helped me overcome my anxiety and depression. She is very empathetic, supportive, and creative. She helped me find new ways of coping and expressing myself. I highly recommend her to anyone who needs a counsellor."
